Para-Seated

Definition of class.

  • Athletes who use a wheelchair, crutches, or other aid for day-to-day walking needs.

  • All Highland Games rules and regulations apply other than identified permissible adaptations and event weights.

Permissible adaptations.

  • Wheelchair or throwing frame, with seat no taller than 75 cm.

  • Weights may be used to secure the chair as needed.

  • The chair or frame must be able to be moved into and out of the trig within reasonable time, with assistance if needed.

Event weights — Men — Open tier. Required for record eligibility at Field, National, Continental, and World levels.

  • Caber — approximate equivalent for reference: Women's or Youth Caber. (No Caber records kept; cabers vary between competitions.)

  • Sheaf Toss — 10 lb

  • Light Hammer — 12 lb

  • Heavy Hammer — 16 lb

  • Weight for Height — 21 lb

  • Light Weight for Distance — 14 lb

  • Heavy Weight for Distance — 21 lb

  • Open Stone — 8–12 lb

  • Braemar Stone — 13–18 lb

Adaptive Masters tiers. Para-Seated has minimal Masters adjustments — Sheaf drops to 8 lb at M40+ and SM50+ for men; women's PS weights are unchanged across all tiers. Full schedule in the framework.
